British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak appreciated and recognised the landmark Deal among Air India, Airbus and Rolls-Royce. This landmark deal will be a defining moment in the Indian aerospace sector, with Air India buying 250 jets per the agreement’s terms. The five-day Aero India 2023 witnessed this landmark deal between the three companies on 14 February 2023. 

The deal will not only help improve the Indian aerospace sector but will also significantly boost the jobs in Wales and Derbyshire, eastern England, which will foster the country’s export and economy. In response to this landmark deal, the Indian-origin British Prime Minister remarked: “This landmark deal between Air India, Airbus and Rolls-Royce demonstrates that sky’s the limit for the UK’s thriving aerospace sector.” 

This deal is expected to significantly improve the British job market as major manufacturing will be undertaken in the U.K. Wings will be designed in Filton, and the assembly process will be managed in Broughton. This lineup is expected to create 450 manufacturing jobs and an inflow of £100 million investment to Wales. The A350 aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce XWB engines, assembled and tested in Derby, England. Sunak adds: “It will create better-paying jobs and new opportunities in manufacturing hubs from Derby to Wales, so we can grow the economy and support our agenda to level up,”

As per the terms of the deal backed by Air India, 250 Airbus jets will be purchased, including 210 single-aisle A320neos and 40 widebody A350s. This deal is a defining moment which will be a testimonial to the strengthening ties between the British and the Indian economy. To consolidate this belief, Sunak stated: “The U.K. is already a top investment destination, and by building trade ties with growing economic powers like India, we will ensure U.K. businesses remain at the forefront of global growth and innovation,”
