9 Skills Blogging Gave You That You Probably Didn’t Realize Counted

Hey there lovely dolls! Hope this post finds you well! So over the weekend I was thinking I haven’t done any blogging tips in a hot minute and thought I’d help you realize why you do this thing called blogging. Plus it’s always nifty to acknowledge your skill set and today we’re going to explore at least 9 skills blogging gave you! For those non-bloggers reading this, NO we do not just take up space on the internet and NO typing up a post is not as simple as it is for you to sit there and read it.

I know it’s hard to digest that us bloggers don’t just sit behind the computer all day twiddling our thumbs, I mean who thought right? Aha I know, who would’ve guessed a mundane word such as “blogging” would be so easily misinterpreted and hard to explain. Okay, so let’s skip my sarcasm and fast forward to where I enlighten you of 9 skills blogging gave you that you probably didn’t realize were such an amazing set of tools to inherit.

9. How to Manage Your Time

One of the first steps of blogging 101 is learning to set goals for yourself and getting it all done within the time frame you allot. Obviously blogging isn’t the only thing in your life and for most bloggers it definitely doesn’t take priority number one sad to say (or am I?). With this crazy thing called life you have to learn to find a balance that works for you and all the components of your life.

There’s no right or wrong way as long as you find a routine or maybe ad hoc way that works for you. When you figure it out, you’ll feel INVINCIBLE and have one more skill to add to your resume tehe. I mean look at me, I’m just here casually writing this post for you in between filing and dealing with business updates at the office lol.

8. How to Create and Manage a Website

Whether you’re self hosted or have a blog via WordPress or any other platform, you had to learn a few tricks by aimlessly searching Google or YouTube…and guess what? Those skills count too! You learn how to create and piece together your little space on the internet bit by bit and I think that is truly amazing. What’s even better is you don’t have a budget for a tech savvy team and you manage to keep your blog running quite smoothly if I do say so myself. You understand the concept of having a domain name and what it even means to be self hosted. The average Joe doesn’t even know what Blue Host or SiteGround is…Go you!

7. Learning Your Best Social Media Coordinating Skills

In a world as technologically advanced as this, loads of job opportunities come up especially ones directly linked to the digital world. Things like Social Media Coordinators are becoming more prevalent as businesses understand the need for great social media channels and the efforts and time taken to manage various platforms and market efficiently. Through blogging we basically self taught all of these tricks and what it means to be a social media wiz. Like we don’t have a certified team but here we are riding it solo being on Instagram, Twitter, Bloglovin’ and so much more!

6. SEO Management

Okay so we may not have this part perfected because in all fairness the rules for SEO keep upgrading and you have to challenge yourself to properly understand what is needed for great Search Engine Optimization (just incase you’re wondering what it means because most people don’t). Simply learning basic SEO is an accomplishment and your blog thanks you dearly for always trying.

5. Patience

LOL! If you know, you know! This one is basically self explanatory. When you first start blogging no one prepares you for all the hard work you have to do constantly, all the things that can go wrong, the glitches, the sleepless nights…the worry! Lol, one thing I can say for certain is if you’re a blogger you acquire a whole heap of patience and you can watch it manifest into your life more.

4. Learn to Build your Network

I cannot stress enough the importance of networking! Not just for blogging but for life! The more globalized the world gets, the easier it is to break barriers and build a network of like minded people who can help you grow. You learn to take chances as a blogger by putting yourself out there; you basically wear your heart on your sleeve and that isn’t always easy to do. However, it can be worthwhile because you meet loads of people along your journey whom you wouldn’t have met if you just sat behind the TV all day doing nothing.

3. Bring out your Best Inner Writer

Okay, so you won’t be the next Mark Twain but blogging helps you create a groove ! You learn what styles work for you and how to find your voice and write passionately about the things you love. Basically, you learn to find your zing and utilize aspects from grammar class you never deemed vital.

2. Photographer and Model

Yes! I know like where is IMG Models when you need them to sign you already! Aha! Honestly, it’s not easy in these blogging streets as well as being a creative but YOU MAKE IT WORK! You learn to photograph your flat-lays and make every angle seem effortless, you become your #OOTD photographer and how to work your angles after 100 shots of not getting it right…but eventually you get the right feature image needed. Point is you become highly gifted when you learn what’s needed for your blogging preset.

1. Learning How to Express Yourself

Finally, my blabbing has come to an end…In my books, one of THE most important things blogging has thought me is how to find my voice in a world that seems mostly bent on keeping you quiet! You learn to express yourself in ways you never thought possible and you may not see it at first but it manifests in your life and you grow a confidence that isn’t easily shaken. Blogging gives you your personal platform to be heard where you make your own rules. It’s most certainly like being your own #BOSSBABE

Well folks that’s it for today’s lesson! I hope I helped you to realize the beauty of blogging especially if you were feeling out of touch (I know it can be hard to keep up with at times). There’re also loads of other skills you can learn from blogging, don’t be shy comment below and let me know some of your blogging highlights! It’s 2019 guys and as Cardi B best stated, there’re loads of ways to secure the bag and for you blogging might just be it!
