There is an indirect yet strong connection between Jealousy and back-stabbing. This I will try to prove with the help of a story below along with the risks and dangers that the person feeling jealous may have to face. The question arises as to whether are we really prepared to put our respect on the line just to have an inner peace, which might not even come?
Now as far as our story goes, there is an antagonist and protagonist in the story. The protagonist is named Karen, who is hard-working and loves helping her colleagues in her office. The antagonist is named Katie, the gossip girl of the office. It has been a long time since Katie has been watching Karen get promoted owing to all the hard work. This has made it extremely hard for Katie, who is not used to hard work.
Since now a days there are enemies more than friends. Katie gathers like-minded people who hate Karen for the same reason and the gossiping starts. It goes from Karen having an affair with her boss to her being a flatter champion to her subordinates. But having done so, Katie might get ahead of Karen but unfortunately puts at risk two most important things, i.e. her respect and character along with her job. Now she may have even neglected the most important questions to hide her weakness.
1. What if one of the so called group members is a rat for the higher management sent in to know what Katie thinks about the office?
2. What if someone from the group is using Katie as a platform for a promotion and raising their worth in the management’s eyes by telling them everything said?
It is clear how in a madness to hide her weakness and take out all the anger on Karen, Katie is setting a trap for herself. She might not only lose her respect among the colleagues but also her job from the office. Hence, there is no shortcut for her to reach the level of Katie except hard work and staying peaceful with her colleagues. One rule she needs to remember before digging this pit is:
“WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND”
Hence, it will be much better for Katie to realize that she cannot go on like this inside the office. Else, someday a group member might snitch her out of the revenge game thereby making her lose not only her reputation in the office but also the job as well.
