The built-in php strncmp() function is used to compare first n character. This function is similar to the PHP strcmp(), except that strcmp() function does not have the length parameter.
Note: This PHP function is binary-safe and case-sensitive.

int strncmp ( string $str1 , string $str2 , int $len )

Parameter Details

| 1 | string1 It specifies first string to search |
| 2 | string2 It specifies second string to search |
| 3 | length It specifies number of characters from each string to be used in the comparison |
Return Value
This PHP function returns less 0 if string1 is greater than string2, and 0 if they are equal.

Try out the example below -

echo strncmp("input","input",6);
echo "

echo strncmp("input","iMPut",6);
?>
Output
When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -
0
8448
