The super luxury division of Toyota – Lexus has launched the LS 500h sedan to grab a chunk of the flagship sedan pie in India and if you want to grab a piece of that pie, well it will cost you Rs 1.77 crores for the base model and goes up to Rs 1.94 crores for top model.

Lexus is on a roll in India ever since its debut, the company has already bought a range of four cars in less than one year of operations and now the luxury car division of Toyota has launched the Lexus LS 500h sedan in India marking its first launch of 2018. The LS 500h was globally launched in the 2017 Detroit Motor Show last January and upon arrival on Indian shores, Lexus eyes a big pie from the luxury sedan market of India. So like all other Lexus cars in India, the LS 500h will be imported to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, which means heavy import duties and additional cess, which explains heavy pricing of the car.
Like most of the company’s offerings in India, Lexus LS 500h is also a hybrid model based on the new GA-L platform. The luxury sedan is powered by 3.5L V6 petrol engine with two additional electric motors that combine to give a maximum power of 354 hp. With the help of a 10-speed automatic transmission, the motor makes the LS 500h capable of doing a 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.2 seconds. The sedan gets elegant and sharp designs alongside its trademark spindle grille upfront which is flanked by two very sleek three-eye bi-beam headlights. The roof features a panoramic sunroof and swept-back LED tail-lamps for an ultra-modern sedan look.
Lexus LS 500h will be available in three variants with prices starting from Rs 1.77 crores for the Luxury variant, Rs 1.82 crores for Ultra Luxury and Rs 1.94 crores for the top of the line. With all these premium features, the new Lexus sedan will compete the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. However, the Lexus LS 500h is the only one in its segment to pack a hybrid powertrain. The LS 500h goes on sale in India via Lexus’ four dealerships based in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.
