Just a month back supercar manufacturer Buggati was riding high and hurtling down its bump free smooth success, celebrating the launch of ’42’ model of $2 Million special edition Chiron. The catch – the car can hit 400 km/h and drop back to 0 in 42 seconds. But apparently, a car that packs 1,479 bhp cannot fly past a Koenigsegg Agera RS in spite of its glorious aerospace design.
Buggati Chiron clocked in 400 km/h and halted back to 0 in a measly 42 seconds but Koenigsegg Agera RS scoffs off its grandeur in a trial run that accomplished the same feat in 36.44 seconds. Agera RS with its twin-turbo aluminum 5,0L V8 engine sped to 400 km/ in just 26.88 seconds and stopped in 9.56 seconds as the driver slammed the brakes.
But wait, there is more. It wasn’t the only Record the car claimed – Koenigsegg managed to hit a top speed of 284.55mph, making it the fastest production car in the world. Christian von Koenigsegg, founder, and CEO, said: “It makes me so proud, so happy and excited to see what we have achieved as a team with the Agera RS.

It seems there is more good news in store for Koenigsegg as it seems that the record is here to stay. The company is also lining up an even more powerful machine Regera that would be an improvement on the existing models. Regera will sport a foldable active rear wing (top mounted) and will also give a fillip to the total propulsion to bring it closer to 1,11 MW/1500 hp.

The test took place on a 11-mile stretch of closed public highway between Las Vegas and Pahrump and the company was not aiming for the record apparently, Agera RS hadn’t even been tested above 186mph at the factory.
