Apple of my Eye

Tags: apple eye storm
I was 20 years old
No clue what to do
The next thing I knew
Saturday night,
I wasn’t feeling very bright
You entered the room
And somehow turned on
My internal light
Amongst the sounds
And distractions
Of drunken theatrics
I found my eyes, starring up at you
Locked in place
Just like glue.
Eyes as blue as the ocean
The Apple of my eye
Suddenly I messed up..
I tripped, I fell and got lost
I hurt you
I’m sorry, I wanna cry
But not a day would pass by
That I wouldn’t remember,
The apple of my eye
Hours ticked, many days o’clock
Still we never talked.
I wouldn’t talk to me either
It’s true what they say,
You never know what you have
Until it’s gone.
Lucky for me, you didn’t move on
Fast forward..
You bless me in many ways
I get to come home to you
Every day.
Now I don’t have to worry about
Locking myself in my room
Saying, “rain, rain go away”
The storms gone.
It moved on
And it finally feels great to say
I get to grow old with you
Every day, even when we’re grey.
Lauren Ray, please stay
Because I don’t want another storm
I just want our forever sunny day.
