Look at the stunning photos of Ibrahim Babangida's mansion

There are many wonderful houses in Nigeria. Each one is beautiful and unique in its own way; it shares the story of its owner with the outside world. However, one particular house stands well above the rest. Today, we are going to tell you about the Ibrahim Babangida house in Minna. Take a look at the stunning photos of his mansion.

Who is General Ibrahim Babangida?

Before we show you General Babangida’s spectacular mansion, let’s take a moment to remember who he actually is.

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (also known as IBB), a prominent figure in Nigerian history, was born on August 17, 1941 in Minna, Nigeria. After joining the Nigerian army in 1962, he spent over thirty years serving his country. If we were to recount all of his deeds, it would probably take us all day. However, we just have to mention the most important thing about his career: he was the eighth President of Nigeria (1985-1993).

Apart from being a General and a President, Ibrahim Babangida is also a family man. In 1969, he married his wife Maryam, and they lived together for forty years. Unfortunately, cancer took Mariam’s life in 2009. Nevertheless, their four wonderful children (Mohammed, Aisha, Aminu and Halima) do not let their father feel alone in this world.

As Babangida is a very famous person known to every Nigerian, it is no wonder that some might want to find out a little bit more about him. One of the most popular things people want to know about is Ibrahim’s wealth and mansion. We cannot tell you much about the former, but we have prepared quite a lot of information on the latter. Check it out!

Babangida is a rather secretive person who does not like to put his life and/or wealth on display. For that reason, many people had no idea that he had a gorgeous mansion somewhere in his hometown. Even though the construction of the house began in 1991 and lasted for a few years, nobody knew about it until around 2007. Sometime during that year, first photos of the gorgeous IBB mansion started to appear on the Internet.

For some time, it was speculated that the house did not actually belong to Ibrahim Babangida. Some people claimed that it belonged to the President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe or to Indian actor Shahrukh Khan. Nevertheless, many news outlets (such as Afrigalla or NaijaGists) reported that the Minna mansion was Ibrahim’s property. As far as we can tell, some people were even lucky enough to get a tour of the building and its premises a while back.

The exact location of the house is unknown. All we know is that it is located somewhere on the hill not far from David Mark Road. However, we have a reason to believe that it is located near the road that actually bears the name of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. It would be rather fitting, wouldn’t it?

If we are correct in our assumptions about the mansion’s exact location, then it is situated in a very lovely spot. Ibrahim Babangida has little to no neighbours and can enjoy the beautiful view of the lush greenery outside of his windows.

The house looks absolutely incredible on the outside. It is adorned with stunning pillars, cute stylised balconies and wonderful plasterwork. It seems that the entire mansion is done in the Neoclassical or Renaissance style of architecture.

The lawn is pristine and green, and the trees all over the territory are cut into fascinating shapes. Of course, the mansion of such size and stature would not be complete without a beautiful azure swimming pool.

However, the interior design of the mansion is even more stunning. Everywhere you look, you can see intricate and unique furniture that can take your breath away. Babangida seems to be a big fan of Renaissance, as all of his rooms (at least the ones we have seen) exude the air of luxurious palaces from that era.

From what we have seen, it is fairly obvious that Ibrahim’s favourite colour is gold. Many walls, curtains, sofas, chairs, candelabras and even tables look like they are coated with actual gold. Despite the fact that not that many people can pull off having so much gold in one building, Ibrahim Babangida does that with ease. Not a single piece of furniture or accessory looks like too much. The man must have had a really good interior designer.

The interior of the house also has lots of things in burgundy. It goes together perfectly with the gold and creates the atmosphere of luxuriousness and royalty. Everything is exquisitely made out of the best materials anyone could think of, which makes you want to touch every surface, just to make sure that it is not a dream.

A quite striking contrast to the rich dark red or golden mood of the other rooms, the bathroom or rather bathrooms look very subtle and calming. The cool green and white marble must be a pleasant contrast to the touch after a warm bubbly bath.

Overall, it seems like Ibrahim Babangida has built himself a worthy home. He (or his interior designer) definitely has an eye for luxurious architecture and exquisite design. Just looking at the pictures of his house was a very pleasant experience. We cannot even imagine how amazing it would be to see this place with your own eyes, let alone live in it. If you ever get a chance to visit it, go ahead, it should be worth it.
