Shruti Haasan’s film ‘Yaara’, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, is going to premiere soon on OTT platform G5. During his promotion, he spoke to Dainik Bhaskar on many issues ranging from Comparison with parents to nepotism.

Question- ‘Yara’ is a story of four friends. Then how much space have you got in it?

Shruti- ‘Got too much. The front shows the bonding between the four boys. I have played the character of Sukanya, due to which a lot of things change. The female characters of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s films are always very different. There is much to do in it. I also have a very good and important role in this. Satisfied with my role.

Question- During the shooting, you were the only actress, then how was the time spent on the set?

Shruti- ‘I rarely get female directors. So most of me and my hair dresser remain on the set. ‘Ramaiya-Vastavaiya’ had many female characters as it was a family drama. See, there are barely 10 women on the set and 100 men. This has always been the case, so I did not bother much.

Question- Apart from acting, what are you doing in singing-writing etc. mode?

Shruti- ‘I started my career as a musician. But in the right way I had to focus on the film. I had not done a live show for 8-9 years. So, after taking a break of one-and-a-half years from acting, went to London and set up the team there and started doing live shows while working on music. This gave me the satisfaction of art. In this break I felt that I had to do a different type of film.

Question- Who will pay more attention next?

Shruti- ‘I will make a balance Right now I am doing 2 Tamil and 2 Telugu films. Actually, I had not paid attention to music for a long time, so I am working on it too. Talking about Hindi films, I should get better characters. Something should be like ‘yara’. ‘

Question- What was special during the break?

Shruti- ‘I see that right now young people are approaching their careers with great stagnation. Now my point of view is that as much as we say yes to a task, it is important to say no. It is also our duty to use good opportunities properly. This is my mind set right now.

Question- It is seen in the acting line that it is compared with every relationship here. You come from a film family, has this comparison ever been challenging?

Shruti– I would like to say that comparing is a very Big Disease in the world. No matter what the comparison is then. I knew from the beginning that I would be compared with my parents. At the time of my first picture Luck, I felt that I was very confident, but I was in a very bad condition from inside.

‘My parents are acting from an early age. They too may have made mistakes, but no one showed it by comparison. His learning came from inside him. Well, when I was compelled with Kamal Haasan, my condition became very bad. ‘

‘Then I took the decision that comparison is not a good thing in general life. So I had to get this word out of my dictionary. I promised myself that I would never compare myself to anyone. After working hard, I will leave my head bowed. This is my only fund.

Question- You come from the film background. In such a situation, when you listen to brother-nepotism, how do you feel and what is your reaction?

Shruti- ‘I never say that it has been difficult or easy for me. Here the doors open because of the name, but it is up to us to go in and stay, walk and talk.

‘I always have a confusion outside and inside, because even if my surname is Hassan, I always feel that it took me a long time to understand myself. Not many people understand me, I still think so. In such a situation, externalization is sometimes felt. But here everyone has to work hard to make a name. ‘

‘Whether it is his brother or his son in the South, it does not work at all. In Tamil cinema, I am probably the second or third girl who is the daughter of an actor. Right now many more people came after me. There are very few people who are relative. The nepotism he speaks is very rare in the Tamil industry.
