Kangana Ranot has been calling Zoya Akhtar’s Film Gully Boy as rubbish. He has also expressed unhappiness from time to time over the film winning several awards. Also, Alia Bhatt has been critiqued many times for her performance in the film. Actor Vijay Verma, who worked in the film Gully Boy, has expressed his views on Kangana’s criticism, however, he did not directly name Kangana.

Vijay targeted Kangana

In an interview to Hindustan Times, Vijay said on the question raised after Gully Boy won 13 Filmfare Awards, I was not present at the award function. I was out of India at that time for the shooting of many films. The Filmfare Awards were held in Guwahati, I was missing the celebrations of the team, I felt that I was nominated for all the awards but did not win any. But people say that these awards were bought.

I do not know. If these awards were bought, why were they not bought for me? Was I getting less love in the group? This is not true because the team at Gully Boy continued to do many more projects with me. All these things are baseless.

Vijay said further, if only one person is targeting the film. Talking about the country, the audience loved it a lot. I have stood by my film and I have no doubt about the love it received.

Gully Boy won 13 awards

Gully Boy won 13 awards at the Filmfare Awards this year including Best Film, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Debut Actor, Best Director. Vijay Verma played the character of a drug dealer named Moin in the film which was well liked.

Gully Boy was sent to the Oscars

Gully Boy was also sent in the race for the 92nd Oscar Awards. The film was sent in the Best Film in Foreign Language category. However, the film, directed by Zoya Akhtar, did not find a place in the short-listed films.
