But also? we love supporting small businesses here at ZaraLouU, so when Death Head Beard Company hit the ‘OH’ up with a beard balm, he was totally intrigued and thus began his baby steps into taming his unkempt, but absolutely gorgeous, goatee…
Death Head Beard Company is a relatively new business created by huge beard enthusiast Calumn McCann. As a guy who loves keeping on top of his facial fuzz, he felt somewhat fed up with everything currently available on the market smelling pretty much the same.
From there, he began experimenting with waxes and essential oils to suit his own tastes. After sharing these with family and friends and receiving some incredible feedback, Death Head Beard Company was born.
What we loved most about Calumn, was that he sought to make products that were affordable, worked amazingly well and that he could completely believe in. And at £6 for a 50ml tin (prices correct as of 15/09/2018) we’re totally behind it!
S o h o w d i d t h e ‘ O H ‘ g e t o n ?
We had a play with the ‘Cherry Bakewell’ scent, which was incredibly divine. I’m not lying when I say I felt compelled to sniff the husbands’ beard often and was left rather hangry with each time that I did. The wax softened amazingly well once rubbed with the fingers, enabling it to become fully workable through the OH’s goatee with zero residues left behind.
The balm tamed his hairs superbly, and surprisingly the hold lasted the whole day too! We also noticed that the wispish like ends to his goatee looked thicker, and the general appearance of his beard appeared fuller after use. The wax also gave a gorgeous shine to his facial locks; he’s beginning to look like a glowing Viking after using it that’s for sure…

The OH has always been somewhat hesitant to try out beard products. Usually because of the cost – and a little laziness, but y’know! – However, this balm may have changed his outlook on grooming totally. As someone who has oily skin and can find the beard becoming somewhat itchy quickly, he’s scratched much less since keeping up with grooming (that totally has to be a bonus right? Less of the Mr Twit if you puh-lease!)
We also loved the tin, it’s sturdy and portable, easy to open with its screw cap and totally fits with the whole vibe of the company.
We also love that ‘DHBC’ is experimental, hunting down vegan-friendly alternatives to beeswax is high on their agenda. Also, the current ingredients used are organically sourced! Awesome-sauce right?
Would we nab some of DHBC beard wax again? Totally! The OH is massively impressed and we see this company going far! They’re already in development of some beard oils – so watch this space!
No more gnarly whiskers for this handsome guy! From here on out, tamed facial tresses! Yummy smelling ones, that is…
