Slummy mummy on a shoestring review – Christmas gift ‘no7 ultimate eyeshadow palette’

Hi beauts!!!

It’s been a while! And I apologise I am soooooooo sorry! But firstly I have some news!!

I am now an official blogger for the amazing (and unicorn approved) website Kikiblahblah.com!  – but don’t fret this does not mean ‘zaralouu‘ will end! Not at all! – but there will be some exclusive content reviews of mine heading over the Kiki waves – so to keep up with my news be sure to follow my Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter accounts (or all three if you love me that much!) for updates!

I’m super excited about the next part of the blogging journey I’m about to embark upon and I’m hoping you’ll share it with me, make up and ALL! – (annnnd tea don’t forget the teaaaa)

So with that said and done, here’s another review coming your way!!

This gorgeous looking ditty was a Christmas present from my wonderful mother. I’ll say it now before I get into it… I am not a no7 make up fan. Period. Skin care and everything else I love, but make up (and nail polish) I have never been a fan. So without sounding like a brat and totally ungrateful (oops) I thought I’d give this guy the benefit of the doubt. It had been many years since I had purchased a no7 item so maybe they had improved their products?..

Well first off, it’s a really nicely made palette. The case metal, gold in colour – but not garish and the mirror is HUGE – in fact I loved this part of the palette most as it fills the entire half side of the clam shell like case – it’s also ultra clear too, no warped mess!

Shades wise… I expected a lot more for something that claimed to be an ‘ultimate palette‘ this was merely muted earthy tones and that was it, nothing grand or spectacular – but for those days where you want a lil’ mossy like chic, it had the colours.

Then came the swatches… and I was left unimpressed. Whilst some shades packed an amazing punch, most left little to the imagination – these were all 3 rubs, one swipe, no primer. Again, whilst the shades were nice and earthy based they didn’t have the pigmentation I desired, and what made matters worse was any shade that seemed matte in the palette was far from matte itself! I found myself SMOTHERED in shimmer and was even more frustrated looking at my inner crease to see my eyelids looking 50 years older than they usually do because shimmer is an utter git on my saggy eyelids!  Deceptive or what? Why you tryna be Jason bourne for no7? You shook and stirred me up something rotten…

Oh crap that was James Bond wasn’t it?

Bugger…

Anyways!

Here is a look I tried to create with this palette… as you can see there was pretty much nothing visible to the slightly dusky pink nude eye I wanted to create!

Texture wise, some blended great, others (mostly the stoney like blues) were chalky, and lacked the blend power the more red tones had.
So has it changed my view? What do you rudding think? Teehee – unfortunately it’s a huge thumbs down from me, and I’m pretty gutted that as a Christmas present it will be something I barely turn towards. The packaging is second to none, amazing in quality and finish and it oozes class – but the products within lack the same punch I wanted. Some people may like the fact that this palette is so muted and use it to build slowly but for me personally, I prefer pigmented colours that pretty much launch a fist onto your face to say *dons Phil Mitchell voice* ‘EHY YOU WAN SOME O THAT? EHY EHY?’

But you win some you lose some! Did anyone else get this palette? Do you like no7 make up? If so what’s your favourite product?

Unfortunately I don’t know the pricing of this product as it was indeed a chrissymassy gift – so totes sorry guys sorrysorrysorry

No7 products are widely available from Boots stores and online
