How to style a coastal room ??

Tags: blue wall coastal

This blog posts will be my first ever how to style a room in a certain way. Today’s, theme is Coastal and how to style a room based around coastal. In this blog will be lots of ideas, pictures and notes for you to look at.

What are the colours that go well in a coastal room ??

The colours that go well in a room are the basic colours which are white and Blue as the blue resembles the ocean. Then there are lots of different shades of blue that you could have which could be:

  • Ocean
  • Sapphire
  • Teal
  • Cerulean
  • Coral blue

However if you are looking to brighten up your room and add a bit of colour to the room then why not add hints of coral pink to your room. You can use the coral pink by painting accessories or having it in paint work.

This room has such an elegant coastal theme running through it because of the furniture that has been placed in the room. As you are able to see, your eyes are drawn into the painting as it is such a stunning artwork piece, the colour scheme of the room is very basic with the blue and the white which is visable to you because of the rug and the cushions which are all blue and white.

Ideas

Walls

You want your room to feel light and spacious so by painting your walls white it allows light to reflect off that and allow the room to became spacious.

If it is possible in your budget then you should invest in put wall panelling in because it allows you to feel like your in an beach hut because of the wooden texture.

A feature wall will draw eyes to it because it may be the only wall which has been painted or wall papered. A feature wall should either be painted in a grey or blue colour or if it is being wallpapered  then it should be in a simple and not to complex wallpaper as it will take longer to put up and you might be put off putting wallpaper up again.

Flooring

You could have either sand coloured carpet or you could have a dark brown wooden floor as both would fit right into the scheme of the coastal theme.

Furniture

If you like that clean and crisp look then you should get white linen furnishings which then are neutral and allow you to match it up with blue or any colour really. You could get a wicker coffee table or you could get a wicker chest style coffee table. If your budget is large then you could invest in buying driftwood furniture as it gives the room a good noticable price and it will be unquie as no driftwood is the same.

Accessories

For them empty walls you could put up some seascape canvas or seascape paintings, sea sketch’s, marine animal paintings or sketches. Driftwood can be a great accessory and always fits in with the coastal theme and it makes the theme more noticeable. Driftwood can be turned into coffee tables or shelves. If you had a mantelpiece or firpace then you should be putting a sailboat on top of it as most traditional houses that are close to the see have one on their mantelpiece. You could use sun bleached denim as part of your room design whether it only be your pillow cases. It is a really nice piece of fabric to use. Well, your window could be dressed with shutters or even blinds that have a seaside pattern one, blue or grey they would all fit very well in a coast theme room. You may even dress your room in dome plants.

 Picture above

The colour scheme in this room is shades of blue and grey which work well together as the walls have been painted grey and the sofa has been covered in grey fabric. The stools have been covered in a navy blue and white striped pattern fabric. Some accessories are blue and some of the pillows are too. I think that the two colour balance well together.

Hope you had a nice time reading, next week room style will be country styled bedroom.
