3 Cool Car Features Every Used Car Shopper Should Not Ignore

For those that have not bought a Car in recent years, they are likely to imagine buying new is the sole way to experiencing modern car technology. But that is not always the case. You can still get the best of what technology has to offer by investing in used cars. The used car market has grown tremendously over the past couple of years to include the latest car makes with all modern technology. This is particularly when you choose to invest in vehicles that are within two to three years from the date of manufacture. You are likely to be surprised by the available technology.

In this article, the term “modern car technology” includes features like dual-zone climate control for convenience, blind-spot monitoring for safety and Bluetooth audio for infotainment.

The Dynamics of Car Tech

The buzz about car technology often has a very intriguing lifecycle. When the vehicle is new, the technology is considered to be cutting edge and makes the new purchase more appealing. Car manufacturers will often bundle those features inexpensive packages further elevating the prices of new cars. Nonetheless, the value of these optional features rapidly fades and can sometimes quicken depreciation rates of the car. In other words, used car shoppers will pay less for car technology than new car shoppers.

However, does this mean that when buying used cars in raleigh, that the technology is too outmoded to be useful? If you are purchasing vehicles that are five years or older, this could certainly be the case, particularly when you think of navigation systems and interfaces for electronics like knob-screen systems such as BMW’s iDrive and touchscreens. Shoppers looking for cars in the two or three-year-old bracket or certified pre-owned cars, nonetheless, will be sure to find car tech quite similar to what is available on a new car lot. Though there won’t be so many cars from which to choose and some improvements could have been made on the newer makes. Think of it in terms of it in terms of iPhone 5 shifting to iPhone 6. There will only be some slight differences in the car tech.

Having that in mind, below are some of the high-tech features you can find in several used cars today.

Adaptive Cruise Control

You no longer have to use cruise control and end up canceling because a vehicle gets in your lane. The adaptive cruise control features a sensor that facilitates detection of a car in front of you and automatically reduces speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle.

Rearview Cameras

They are sometimes known as backup cameras and will display a live feed from the rear of the car, which assists when parking and spotting things behind the vehicle. Some of the latest systems often have 360 degrees rear view.

Blind Spot Monitoring

These systems typically employ sensors in the rear and front of the car to detect or sense vehicles that are out of the peripheral view of the driver. Whenever a car is within your blind spot and you use the turn or indicator signals, the side mirrors will light up an icon to tell you that isn’t safe to change the lanes. Some cars will have this light inside the vehicle next to the mirror.

There are certainly many more features that can make driving more enjoyable and can be found in the used cars in raleigh. All you need to do is make certain that you are buying the right car.
