Last Thursday night, (October 19), the USC Trojans kicked-off another basketball season with their annual “Trojan HoopLA.” Although he is not quite ready to take an active role on the court, 19-year-old freshman Bronny James was there to support his team as he danced with his teammates on basketball season’s opening night.
All eyes were on the eldest son of NBA legend LeBron James as he walked onto the court during his intro and did the Dougie (“Teach Me How to Dougie”) dance. Clad in his USC No. 6 jersey, everyone applauded and cheered for the recovering four-star recruit.

Seemingly, Bronny is more than ready to get this season started; however, his availability to actually play with the team for their first game on November 9th is still uncertain.
If you remember, the young athlete suffered a cardiac arrest in July of this year. The teen was officially diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.”
A few weeks ago, the USC head basketball coach, Andy Enfield spoke to ESPN about James’ potential timeline to return to the court.
“The good thing is he’s doing extremely well and he’s in class right now. And we all love him,” Enfield said. “I think everybody is hopeful that Bronny will return to the court. We just have to be patient and take it step by step Our goal is to support Bronny in any way we can academically, athletically, and be patient with how things develop in his return.”
In the interview, Enfield went on to praise the young athlete’s natural talent on the court. “He’s a terrific basketball player and was playing very well [before the cardiac arrest],” he said.
Enfield continued on to say that, “We all think there is a big upside in his game and he can help our team win.”
We all hope to see Bronny healthy and back on the court doing what he loves. It is is truly good to see, in spite of it all, he is still “having fun” with all that comes with being a college basketball superstar.
