Good Burger fans get exited! Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+ have just released the first teaser trailer for Good Burger 2, and we are definitely here for it!
If you remember, the 1997 movie starred Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell as two teenagers that worked in the fast-food restaurant, the “Good Burger”. The movie was based on a recurring All That comedy sketch, where their famous slogan, Welcome to Good Burger, the home of the Good Burger, may I take your order, became somewhat of a cult-phenomenon as Gen X-er’s were saying the phrase everywhere they went. Well, fast-forward to 2023 and Thompson and Mitchell are reprising their roles as “Dexter Reed” and “Ed”.
According to Deadline, here is what fans can expect from the upcoming film.
In Good Burger 2, Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!,” Thompson recently said in a past interview about the upcoming movie. “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
Mitchell chimed in at the time saying that, “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”
Per JustJaredJr.com, Kenan and Kel aren’t the only Good Burger alums that are reprising their roles. Josh Server (Fizz), Lori Beth Denberg (Connie Muldoon) and Carmen Electra (Roxanne) are all returning to the Good Burger.
In addition to the alums, new faces that will join the cast include: Lil Rel Howery as Cecil McNevin, Jillian Bell as Katt Boswell, Kamaia Fairburn as Mia, Fabrizio Guido as Mr. Jensen, Elizabeth and Emily Hinkler as Cindy and Mindy, and Anabel Graetz as Ruth.
Portraying Ed’s son, is one of our BCKOnline favorite young faces, 18-year-old Alex R. Hibbert. You might remember Hibbert from his career that spans favorites such as: Black Panther, The Chi, Code Switch, Story Alive, and The Graduates.
Good Burger 2 is set to debut on Paramount+ in November of 2023.
