Dwyane Wade’s ex, Siohvaughn Funches, is accusing him of exploiting their transgender daughter, Zaya Wade, for profit. She filed a petition with the courts to block Zaya’s official request to change her name and gender.

“There are multiple factors to be considered by the Court in determining the requests to change the minor child’s name and gender,” Siohvaughn shared in her documents. “The minor child is fifteen and one-half years old,” Zaya’s biological mom highlighted. “[Dwyane Wade] is positioned to profit from the minor child’s name and gender change with various companies through contacts and marketing opportunities including but not limited to deals with Disney.”

Dwyane Wade obtained physical custody of his kids with Siouhvaughn Funches in 2011 after the court deemed the children’s mother unfit to serve as a caregiver. The judge who ruled in the case wrote:

“The court finds that [Siohvaughn Funches] has embarked on an unstoppable and relentless pattern of conduct for over two years to alienate the children from their father, and lacks either the ability or the willingness to facilitate, let alone encourage, a close and continuing relationship between them.”

Siohvaughn claimed to have personally spoken with her ex-husband in her recent petition to prevent her daughter from officially changing her name and gender. “In April 2022, (Dwyane) invited me to one of his residences in Atlanta, Georgia,” Funches shared in legal documents.

“During this occasion, he informed me that a lot of money had been already made and that additional money will be made in relation to our child’s name and gender issue,” Siohvaughn shared. “[Dwyane] told me that he intended to make our child very famous due to the name and gender issue and also informed me that there would be endorsements/contracts associated therewith.”

Zaya Wade came out as transgender during PRIDE 2019. The youngster has received immense support from her father and stepmom, Gabrielle Union, since sharing her truth with the world. Dwyane Wade has four kids in all.
