The Kano State House of Assembly, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has called on the state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to appeal to President Muhhamadu Buhari to upgrade the Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Danbatta Local Government Area to a university.

The State House of Assembly made the call on Monday following a motion presented by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and member representing Makoda Constituency, Alhaji Hamisu Chidari.

The college which was established over forty years back has graduated many students which are presently contributing to the development of the agricultural sector in the state and and the country.

Chidari said that if the college is upgraded, it will also contribute more in complimenting the efforts of PMB towards boosting the sector.

“The institution has 36 courses and seven Faculties offering Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Agriculture. Therefore, there is the need for the upgrade of the college to a university,” Chidari stated.

Chidari also said that if the college is upgraded to a university, it will be the second of its kind in the country after that of Makurdi, in Benue state and will reduce unemployment.
