The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, allegedly grilled the Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Prof. Labode Popoola, over allegations of financial impropriety levied against him by workers of the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising of all the non-teaching staff of the university had accused Prof. Popoola of financial mismanagement and administrative inefficiency.

Comrade Lekan Adiat, Chairman, SSANU/JAC, Comrade Isaiah Fayemi, Chairman NASU, and Comrade Ismail Adeleke, Chairman NAAT, had earlier this year bemoaned the VC for running the institution aground.
They accused the VC of mismanaging over three billion naira he met in the account of the university upon his assumption of office.
The institution’s workers who are currently on strike had faulted the governing council’s exoneration of Popoola, insisting that he mismanaged the resources of the university.

Popoola was said to have arrived the Ibadan office of EFCC on Wednesday before 9am and was not released until 8pm. The VC was released on bail having produced two sureties.
