Hey guys,

How are you all doing? I hope all is well. Today’s post has been on my mind since season 1 of the NBC show “This Is Us.” To make a disclaimer, I’m not a TV show fanatic. There are few shows out there that truly suck me in and make me want to binge. However,  I have to say that “This Is Us” is undoubtedly one of the best shows on TV now.  From drama, to Love, to humor, and suspense, this show will keep you glued to the screen. So without further a due, let’s get into why this show truly rocks.

1. Heartwarming Without The Cheese

This show’s Plot will definitely pull at your heart strings. It takes the prize for compassion and sentimental value.  For those of you who feel as though that will be a cheesy snooze fest, you are definitely wrong. Although the show is heartwarming, it is realistic and touches on things that will ignite your inner sensitivities.  You will probably feel emotionally connected to every single character.  Everyone of them have struggles that are real and relatable.

2.  Plot Twists and Suspense

The level of plot intricacy in this show is phenomenal.  When you think you have a hunch on what is going on, you’re hunch will shortly be refuted.  Also, watching consecutive episodes don’t necessarily mean consecutive plot buildup. You may experience a cliffhanger in one episode and then the next they’ll leave you hanging. Sometimes this can be frustrating, but it always keeps you on your toes. No two episodes are alike.

3.  Touches On Real Issues

“This is Us” is not just fluff and sentiment. It tackles serious issues that effect society and people.  It never sugarcoats things but gives honest and realistic interpretations of problems.

4.  Diversity and Black Love

One of the real issues the show touches on is social issues and racism. Randall,  one of my favorite characters is a black man. I love how they portray him as intelligent, successful and hard-working. However,  the icing on the cake is his beautiful love story with his black queen of a wife Beth. It is refreshing to see the positive portrayal of black love without drama, scheming, and divorce.

There is also diversity in character’s body image. Kate is a character who struggles with obesity.  It’s important for show’s to have storylines for plus-sized individuals.

I hope that you all consider watching “This is Us”. It has touched me in so many ways.
