Marvel Creating the Cinematic Universe Exhibition 2017

Hi everyone!

This month I visited the amazing Marvel Creating the Cinematic Universe Exhibition at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (open only from 27 May 2017 to 3 Sep 2017).

If you’re a fan of the Marvel comics, universe and the movies, this is a must see. It’s a brilliant exhibition and I highly recommend it.  It took a good hour and a half for me to digest all the information and witness props, costumes, and sets from the Marvel films and a sneak peak into the Upcoming Thor Ragnarok set!

I felt privileged to be in there.  As you walk into the first section you are greeted with comics neatly presented in glass cases. There’s also a massive wall with a drawing of Spiderman.

The next section was all about The Avengers.  It featured the costumes of Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow and Maria Hill and displayed the container Bucky was captured in.

I entered into the next room and my jaw dropped as soon as I saw Loki’s scepter just sitting in the middle of room.  I wanted to touch it.  It was amazing to see it in life size.  On the right side of the room was Dr Strange.  Another great setup.  Behind the costumes there was a display of the awesome visual kaleidoscope effects just like in the film!  So good!

On the left side of the room was a display of costumes from Guardians of the Galaxy.  Groot in real life would have been huge!  The next room was all about Thor.  It was such a beautiful Asgardian throne room.  I was very impressed with the setup.

Got to see Thor’s costume up close and Heimdall’s costume and sword.  Hat’s off to those involved with the setup.  It was a surreal experience.

The next rooms were dedicated to Iron Man.  When you get to witness the Iron Man suits on display as featured in the films, you get chills.  The rooms also feature the Mandarin, Tony Stark’s F1 car, Whiplash’s costume and Iron Man’s giant suit, Hulkbuster!

There were also several PC screens along two walls. One wall was dedicated to the Marvel Universe showing how the characters linked or didn’t link with each other. The other wall showed photos, movie clips and more Iron Man costumes and props.

The final section of this amazing exhibition was a sneak peak into one of the sets of the upcoming Thor Ragnarok! So cool!

This is for all ages (children under 15 years will need a parent/ guardian) and definitely worth experiencing if you are in the Brisbane City area.  Find out more information about the exhibition at this link. It’s only a temporary setup at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art until 3 Sep 2017 so you a few more days left to check it out!

Enjoy!
