Cricketer Shahid Afridi has sparked a major controversy by commenting on the Kashmir issue. On the recent encounter with the terrorists, where Indian army successfully shot dead 12 militants in the region, Afridi passed a baseless and uneducated statement.

Afridi wrote on Twitter: “Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self-determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”

On the other hand, Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the UN Secretary-General also gave a narration on the tension in Kashmir. “The Secretary-General is, indeed, very concerned about the situation that we’ve seen in Jammu and Kashmir. He would like to remind that the Member States are responsible under the international humanitarian law to protect civilians.”
