On Wednesday, the Congress party has opened a “State Bank Of Tomato” in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. The party is trying to register a unique type of protest against the rising prices of tomatoes in the country.

Interestingly, the bank will provide all the basic banking facilities to its customers. The ban will open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. It provides benefits to its customers in return for their valuable commodity, tomatoes (in this case).
The bank is providing attractive interest rate and 80 percent loan and even lockers on the tomatoes.

According to The Times Of India, a customer who has invested with the bank, Srikrishna Verma said: “I have deposited 0.5 Kg tomatoes, will get 1 kg after 6 months. I’m 103-year-old, never thought have to see this.”
On July 2, tomato prices in major cities were Rs80/kg in Mumbai, Rs55/kg in Chennai, Rs95/kg in Kolkata and Rs92/kg in Delhi.
