In 2008, under the Narendra Modi’s administration, 80 temples or their encroaching boundaries were demolished.

Police officers, forest officials and the members of the Gandhinagar collectorate had participated in the process. There were around 107 illegal temples that had been built on the main road and 312 temples that came up in the interior areas of various sectors.
