Gabbar Singh a Villain More Popular Than a Hero in India, Died in a Tragic Way

Remember the dialogue “Soja varna Gabbar aa jayega”? Who doesn’t? It is from a film that won the hearts of Indian fans, Sholay. Veeru and Jai played by Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan respectively, hired by a retired police officer Sanjeev Kumar, to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh, Amjad Khan.

Sholay was the first film of its kind that gave a villain a recognition as same as a hero of the film. On July 27, 1992, he died of heart attack in Mumbai. He has a very tragic story of his death to disclose.

It was in 1986 when Amjad Khan was traveling from Mumbai to Goa for a film shoot. He met with a tragic road accident in his way. He suffered serious injuries and went into a coma. However, by luck, he started recovering early. During that period, the medicine he was prescribed to take by the doctor led him to gain extra weight. This ultimately led to health complications.

Due to the extra weight gain, he died in 1992 when he was 52 years old. Films like Bechain, Rudali and Anokhi Chaal are among those 10 films that got released after his death.
