In a controversial statement, the Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar said that the BJP government will import beef from Karnataka to avoid shortage in Goa.

In a response to a question asked by Nilesh Cabral, a ruling BJP lawmaker, Parrikar further added: “I can assure you that inspection of beef from the neighbouring state will be done by a proper and authorised medical doctor and not others.”

In the Goa Meat Complex, which is situated at Ponda, around 2,000 kg of beef was slaughtered on a regular basis.

Parrikar also said that the BJP government will not force any restriction on bringing the animals for slaughter at the Goa Meat Complex from the neighbouring state.

Congress senior leader, Rajiv Shukla has commented on this saying that the BJP Chief Minister assuring the people of Goa that there will be no beef shortage in the state. This is ironical and amusing at the same time.
