In a barbaric act, a bus carrying Amarnath yatris was attacked by terrorists killing 7 pilgrims and injuring 19. The bus was travelling from Baltal to Jammu and when it reaches near Khanabal Anantnag district, terrorists brutally opened fire at it. The attack took place at around 8:20 pm. All the pilgrims hailed from Gujarat.

“Kashmiris Heads Hang In Shame”
According to The Quint, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attack and said, “The terrorists have tainted the name of Kashmiris and Muslims. We hang our heads in shame. I have no words to condemn this, I hope those involved will be arrested and punished soon. We will not rest before they are punished.’
Shutdown In Jammu
The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries announced a shutdown in Jammu Today. It is supported by both ruling and opposition parties.
Ina series of tweets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decried the terrorist strike and said: “Pained beyond words on the dastardly attack on peaceful Amarnath Yatris in J&K. The attack deserves the strongest condemnation from everyone. India will never get bogged down by such cowardly attacks & the evil designs of hate.”
Victims To Be Airlifted To Delhi
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said that in a special BSF aircraft, the victims will be airlifted to New Delhi from Srinagar where they will be shifted tonight.

Zulfiqar Hasan, IG (Operations) for the Central Reserve Police Force has confirmed that the Amarnath Yatra will continue from Jammu tomorrow.
Politicians React to the Attack
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Very sad news. The attack cannot be condemned strongly enough. My sympathies to the families & prayers for the injured.”
Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee said: “Strongly condemn the attack on Amarnath yatris and the police. Terrorism unacceptable anywhere in the world.”
