This Was The Reason Why Titanic Star Leonardo DiCaprio Returned His Oscar Award

The famous and ace Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio got famous worldwide after his superhit film Titanic. But he had to wait long to get Oscar Award in a Best Actor category. But it wasn’t that long, the day came when he won his favorite Oscar Award in February 2016. Leonardo won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Revenant, and his Oscar acceptance speech was certainly one for the record books.

But the people got shocked when he returned the Oscar over to the government. All his fans and film fraternity was in dilemma as well as in shock that what made him do so. The Oscar Award he won was happened to be one that was won by Marlon Brando in 1954 for his film “On The Water Front”. This was gifted to Leonardo from the production company that financed The Wolf of Wall Street.

The production company, Red Granite, reportedly put about £78 million behind the 2013 film. But Red Granite is under investigation from the Department of Justice over alleged links to a billion-dollar money-laundering scheme that took place in Malaysia. As per the trusted reports, this was allegedly started by the Malaysian prime minister, Najib Razak. Therefore, as the part of the probe, government investigators are seeking £422 million in assets, from real estate and jewelry to expensive artwork.

When the news came, the actor decided to return his award in order to help to their investigation. Commendable!
