Ganesh Mantra

Ganesh Mantras are siddhi mantras. Each mantra contains certain specific power of Lord Ganesh. When chanted with the proper pranayama rhythmic breathing, and sincere devotion, they will yield good results. In general, Ganesh mantras will ward off all evil and bless the devotee with abundance and success. Evil spirits won’t dare enter the house or the mind of the devotee who recites Ganesh Mantras.

One should bathe or wash limbs before sitting for the repetition of the mantras. Also, one should do three or more pranayama before beginning the mantra. The minimum repetition of the mantra should be one full mala or 108 times. When this is done at a fixed hour and place regularly for 48 days, it becomes an Upasana, which means an intense meditation, which will yield siddhis or spiritual powers.

Vakratunda Ganesh Mantra

ऊँ वक्रतुण्ड़ महाकाय सूर्य कोटि समप्रभ।

निर्विघ्नं कुरू मे देव, सर्व कार्येषु सर्वदा।।

om vakratunra mahakaya surya koti samaprabha.

Nirvighnam kuru me deva, sarva karyesu sarvada

Meaning – O one with a majestic trunk, a massive form, and the radiance of a million suns, I pray to you to remove the obstacles from all my endeavors, always.


Ganesh Gayatri Mantra

ऊँ एकदन्ताय विहे वक्रतुण्डाय धीमहि तन्नो दन्तिः प्रचोदयात्।

Om ekadantaya vihe vakratundsya dhimahi tanno dantih pracodayat

Meaning – We devote our thoughts to the One Tusked Lord
We meditate upon Him who has a Curved trunk
May the tusked one guide us on the right path.

Basic Ganpati Mantra

ऊँ गं गणपतये नमः ।।

Om Gam Ganpataye Namah

Meaning – Salutations to the remover of obstacles Lord Ganesha.


Siddhi Vinayak Mantra

ॐ नमो सिद्धि विनायकाय सर्व कार्य कर्त्रे सर्व विघ्न प्रशमनाय सर्व राज्य वश्यकरणाय सर्वजन सर्वस्त्रीपुरुष आकर्षणाय श्रीं ॐ स्वाहा

Om Namo Siddhi Vinayakaya Sarva kaarya kartrey
Sarva vighna prashamnay Sarvarjaya Vashyakarnaya
Sarvajan Sarvastree Purush Aakarshanaya Shreeng Om Swaha.

Meaning – O Lord of Wisdom and Happiness, only you make every endeavor and everything possible;

You are the remover of all obstacles and you have enchanted every being in the Universe, you are the Lord of all women and all men, amen.


Namavali Ganesh Mantras

Lord Ganesha is known by his many names. All his names signify the meaning or qualities associated with him.

ॐ गणाध्यक्षाय नमः।

Om Ganadhyakshaya Namah

Meaning: Ganadhyaksay – Gana means ‘a group’ and ‘Adhyaksh’ means ‘one who is leader of the group’

ॐ गजाननाय नमः।

Om Gajananaya Namah

Meaning: Gajanan here means One who carries the elephant head. In Sanskrit, gaj means elephant. This Mantra says that if God can carry the elephant’s head to survive and fulfill his duties, even we should put aside our ego and live our lives dutifully.

ॐ विघ्ननाशाय नमः।

Om Vighnanashaya Namah

Meaning: Ganpati is also worshiped to remove obstacles from one’s life. Here vigna means obstacles and nashnay means One who removes obstacles.

ॐ लम्बोदराय नमः।

Om Lambodaraya Namah

Meaning: Ganesha is known to love his food, and has a big, round belly. ‘Lambodar’ thus refers to him as a God who has a big belly.

ॐ सुमुखाय नमः।

Om Sumukhaya Namah

Meaning: Sumukh means ‘One with a pleasing face’. Lord Ganesha lost his head and replaced it with that of an elephant’s head. But his good spirit shine through even on his elephant face.

ॐ गजकर्णकाय नमः।

Om Gajkarnakaya Namah

Meaning: Gaj means Elephant and Karnikay mean ears. With the elephant’s head and elephant ears, Ganesh was unable to listen to everything from all sources.

ॐ विकटाय नमः।

Om Vikataya Namah

Meaning: Here ‘Vikat’ means ‘difficult’, when one is in a difficult situation chanting this mantra will remind him that this ultimate goal is salvation, and no matter what happens, he should not lose sight of it.

ॐ विनायकाय नमः।

Om Vinayakaya Namah

Meaning: ‘Vinayaka’ is the name of Ganesha in the golden age. Vinayaka means ‘something under control’ and also means ‘the Lord of resolving problems’.

Meaning – This Ganpati mantra is known to be one of the most powerful mantras as it creates a positive aura around your body. Its musical tone creates unique cosmic energy around you and lifts your mind from the state of trance. Pandits recite this mantra mostly during pujas and yagnas to please Lord Ganesha. The right chanting of this mantra brings peace and harmony in your life and drives out all the difficulties from your life.

द्वादशैतानि नामानि प्रातरुत्थाय यः पठेत्‌॥
विश्वं तस्य भवेद्वश्यं न च विघ्नं भवेत्‌ क्वचित्‌||
