1000 Names of Lord Vishnu – Sahasranamavali of Lord Vishnu

Vishnu is the God the Preserver, the sustainer of life, worshipped by millions in his incarnation as Rama and Krishna. The thousand names reiterate a single message the Lord is everything, everywhere. His names evoke the qualities that elevate our lives forgiveness, beauty, tenderness, compassion, and love.

Sahasranama means thousand (sahasra) names (nama), and Sahasranama Stotra is a hymn eulogizing the Lord by recounting one thousand of His names. As the various sects of Hindu-tradition (Shaivism, Shaktism, and Vaishnavism) grew and spread, it must have become extremely popular to write hymns of a thousand names for the primary Deity of worship.
