The Charm of Southern Poland

Poland is a beautiful country that offers tourists relaxation on the Baltic Sea as well as charming mountains. Beautiful landscapes, regional cuisine, a multitude of entertainment and monuments, and attractive prices mean that more and more tourists from around the world appear here. Southern Poland deserves special attention – at any time of the year. Tatra Mountains and Krakow are the heart and the most important recreational centers on the tourist map for both domestic and foreign tourists.

The capital of the region – Krakow, is the historical seat of the kings so there are many monuments of history. However, the city is not just a monument – it’s a modern tourist and scientific center, which also offers a wide range of recreational activities. The heart of the city – the Main Square, is the most recognizable place. This is where the whole atmosphere of the city is focused: thousands of pubs, restaurants, historic buildings and unique entertainment in one place. Tourists, however, are more and more eager to use the entertainment offer that goes beyond the very center – also the area has a lot to offer.

Krakow is located in a picturesque area full of hills, lakes, rocks and rivers. It’s the perfect place for extreme sports such as off road, quad biking or paintball. White water rafting in Krakow is also becoming more and more popular – a sport based on sliding on the water surface on a board, reminiscent of that of snowboarding.

The greatest pride of southern Poland are the monumental Tatra mountains. Located not far from Krakow, they are a great attraction for tourists: the charming mountain villages attract climate and atmosphere. Here you can try authentic dishes of the region, listen to the regional dialect and fall in love with the views. In the Tatras you will also find a wide range of spa and wellness facilities: thermal pools, body and face treatments, massages and saunas. Zakopane – the largest mountain city, will delight you with its vibrant atmosphere. Here you can see real highland hospitality: eat your fill with regional dishes, listen to local music and go on a sleigh ride! Polish mountains are an ideal place for winter sports – perfectly prepared slopes and infrastructure will make you want to come back here every year. However, not only the entertainment attract tourists here, but above all the authenticity of the inhabitants, their passion for cultivating tradition, but also openness to modernity and otherness.

Other important cities in this part of Poland are also: Wadowice (the hometown of Pope John Paul II) Auschwitz (Nazi Concentration Camp) and Wieliczka, where the largest and oldest salt mine in Poland is located. It’s also worth visiting the nearby amusement park – Energylandia. It’s the largest of its kind in the whole country – you’ll find here entertainment for the whole family! Both attractions for children as well as an extreme zone for enthusiasts of strong sensations. That’s why it’s worth planning a longer stay to see what the whole region has to offer! Excellent infrastructure and a multitude of offers and trips will certainly facilitate your travel!
