Preparing For Veggies

So, I’m starting with my back Garden and have a rather large space I have to work with which is both fantastic but also a lot of hard work. I do want to get Veggies into the ground as soon as possible to harvest this year, the back garden offers such a large space I’m also thinking of doing more fruit plants in a section too. The photo to the left is what i’ve started to do with the veggie patch, which is; take the grass off and then start to turn it over in the coming days.

The food I do plan to have this year at least are mainly Potatoes, Carrots, Leeks, Onions, Cucumber, Sweetcorn and a few others. The aim is to start this year and then throughout the winter to start getting other areas of the garden sorted for the next growing year. I’ve also got myself down for an allotment which is great and I will have more details once I have one.

The other area I have been hard at work on is my herb garden, being a big foodie I tend to use a lot of herbs and therefore this has had a lot of my attention. Recently I’ve added a few more herbs including Coriander, Thyme Seeds, Chives and a few other different ones including Curry Plant and Lemon Balm.

I am new at all this and taking advice from loads of different sources, growing my own food has been something I’ve been interested in for some time. If you have any top tips please feel free to send me them on twitter @JordLaidler
