Be In Your Bubble

When people are constantly sharing their "wins" (and maybe "loses" ) on Social Media, or in person, it's hard to keep a positive perspective of your own life. Do you ever feel anxious, or mentally beat yourself up for not doing as much, having as much, or gloating as much as others? or do you ever feel proud of yourself for a moment, up until you slip into yet another Comparison trap, resulting in you feeling inadequate? Focusing on your own bubble, and trying to avoid it being popped by others, or by comparison can be extremely difficult and exhausting. The first thing we need to do, is recognize and separate our own views of ourself, without comparing. Here are some gentle reminders and tips on how to focus on your own journey or bubble while blocking out the outside noise of others and society.
1. Recognize when you are comparing, is this impacting how you view yourself?
2. Write down your goals, and things you value about yourself that will help you achieve those goals
3. Be insanely proud of yourself when you achieve your goals. Stay away from social media, or anything that may spark up the trap of comparison for a little while.
4. Write it down, journal, blog, about what you did that made you proud. You don't need to turn or compare to others for confirmation, if you feel proud, then be proud.
Of course, in moderation comparison can be incredibly motivating, but I have yet to meet someone who solely uses comparison for just that. In the meantime, compare in moderation, evaluate your feelings after you've compared, and try not to let it wipe out your pride. Feel proud? Enjoy that feeling for a little longer next time.
