Creating Your Ideal Future. Part 1

If I hadn't struggled with my mind in my earlier years, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn't be proud of my mind or able to get myself out of funks. I dealt with so much Anxiety growing up that most people in their twenties are just now experiencing. I know what I want in life; but I know so many of the people around me have no clue what they want ( besides wealth ). I don't know what you should become and what that's going to look like for you, but I do want to offer some ways that helped push me towards the career I strive for. Obviously this can't be done in one simple post, I wish it was that easy...but here are some tips that started me off in the right direction years ago.
1. I had several mental breakdowns throughout elementary and highschool because I was anxious about the future. ( I'm sure we've all been there )
2. My anxiety forced me to imagine a perfect future for myself. I started cutting out magazine clips, and made a scrapbook of my future and what I wanted it to look like, car, home utensils...everything.
3. I imagined EXACTLY what I wanted my mornings to look like as an adult; from what I was wearing walking through my perfect home, to what I was eating, to what the table looked like at which I was eating at. ( Yup, I'm this insane )
4. People would tell me what my strengths were, and in highschool, my best friend told me what Profession I would be great at.
5. I took this profession and ran with it. I researched everything there was to know about it, I played "pretend" and imagined my day to day life as this profession and what that would feel like, and I watched "day in the life" videos to get further inspired.
6. I looked into other professions and only thought about what I would like about the job. It never occurred to me what I would dislike. This helped me have backup plans incase I lost passion for my "plan A" lifestyle.
These are just some of the baby steps I took into figuring out what exactly I wanted my life to look like. I am not there yet, but am on my way and am enjoying the process of getting there. I hope this helps someone who is struggling to picture their future or what they want to do as a profession.
