Expectations

Far too often, I think one of the things that mess us up most in life is having Expectations. If that sounds a bit depressing, remember there is a difference between standards and expectations. Standards are what you set for yourself in order to avoid things or people you don't want in your life. The only expectations you should be setting are the ones for your own life. Sometimes we get caught up in having expectations for other people and that's where the problem lies. If there is something we cannot control, such as a situation or a person; then we must eliminate our expectations. Imagine if you just went on a trip, or hung out with a friend, or whatever it may be and you just lived in the moment and enjoyed yourself because you had no expectations that were possibly never going to be met because YOU set them for an uncontrollable situation. When you stop expecting others to read your mind, be perfect, expecting them to love you if you don't offer it in the first place, and expecting them to agree with you, you world becomes a whole lot more peaceful because now you are living in the moment; instead of expecting you are accepting.
