#BookReview : Judas and Jezabel : The Tales Of A New York Nanny By C.Y. Brown

Tags: story nanny money

About the Author : C.Y. Brown worked in law enforcement prior to coming to the United States. She studied Child Psychology, Early Child Care Development and Human Relations. Brown’s experience in childcare has enabled her to work for lawyers, doctors and celebrities. Her hobbies are cooking, reading, arts and craft, traveling and interior design. She currently resides in New York, USA.

About the Book : This is a Story about lust, greed and betrayal. C.Y. Brown agreed to move from Brooklyn, New York to New Jersey with a wealthy young couple and their baby. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect the couple to use her and the baby as pawns for their own greed and self gratification. A long and nasty divorce, involving multiple lawyers, psychologists, family secrets and continuous lies by the couple. The husband tries to hold on to his money and the wife tries to grasp as much of the money as she can. What lies ahead for Carol and a young innocent child, trapped in the psychological game of cat and mouse?

My Say : This book ‘Judas and Jezabel: The Tales of a New York Nanny‘ is a fictional narrative from the point of view of an overworked nanny named Carol. It is set in the suburbs and goes to great lengths to show how money does not equal happiness in marriage, child raising and life in general.

I found it very harsh as it’s a story about how greed and power make rich people think they are above everyone else. Many lives are turned upside down by Conner and Sharon’s greed. Thankfully the prologue explains that this story was a work of fiction, however it was still disheartening to read about a scenario where two parents would care so little for their child two antagonists of this story are going through a messy divorce and don’t really seem to care about their child but rather are only concerned with their money and how much of it they can get out of all of this. The poor child is caught in the middle and the only one who seems to care about him is the nanny who is just trying to stay out of the middle of the storm of lawyers and malcontents who are all grabbing for money.

The nanny just tries to protect Cindy because she feels that no child should have to go through something this messy. The cultural messages are heavy and some people might take offence but in general the story is well-done.

The writing is clean and focused. I liked the nanny and the personable way in which she talks to the audience and explains the story. This story shows the grey shade of a greedy couple and its effect on the kid which was actually a messed up concept thus it makes the reader quite negative and sometimes it seems irritating too.

I would give 3 out of 5 stars. If you like stories where people are fighting and don’t really have their priorities figured out, then you can give it a try!
