Nerd Block vs Lootcrate! Because if there is one thing that nerds and geeks love it's stuff and things!

I ordered a 6 month subscription of Lootcrate for Brian as a Christmas gift. My plan was to start weeding out his old ratty t-shirts. They had to be replaced though and what better way to replace them than through this system. Each Lootcrate comes with a mystery t-shirt based on the theme of the month. December's theme was GALAXY and we were very impressed. But January's INVASION theme was even better.

First thing is the box. It's small and black and full of goodies. I'm sure the ladies at the post office think we are weirdos. The difference between Lootcrate and Nerd Block so far are hard to judge. First, you must know, that the prices are in US so for us Canadian's you have to remember the conversion because that extra $1.43 can really make the difference in choosing to purchase.

We'll start with Lootcrate. The INVASION theme was amazing. Featuring X-Files, Fifth Element, Invaders and Aliens it had everything. I would say Brian loved this box the best since he is the big sci-fi guy in the house.

The X-Files shirt and small flashlight was a big hit with Brian, being the huge X-Files fan. I wasn't into it as a kid, the show creeped me out as a kid.

I love the Invaders figure, it will probably migrate around the house.

The Facehugger plushie was the prize jewel, Brian called it before we opened the box. Caleb likes to cuddle with it while he's napping in the car.

YAY IT'S THE THING FROM THAT MOVIE! Brian loves that you can remove Leeloo's ID and put your own in.

Lootcrate was awesome but I was a little sad that they didn't include a Pop Funko figure this time. In December's crate we got a Han Solo Pop Vinyl Bobblehead that lives on our fireplace wall. Oh well, you can't have it all.

The Nerd Block order was for myself, a one month trial. They had a nice Boxing Day promo for one box, I went with the Classic Box because I knew there would be something in there I'd like.

I screamed when I saw that they gave me a Funko Legacy figure of The Hound. Brian had to put the camera down. It's one of those things that I see every time we go to the Nexus and I think man, I want that... wait, I'm 30 and a mother. Why am I wanting action figures, get it together, Krista and now I don't have to wrestle with those feelings. Thanks, Nerd Block!

My love of The Hound/Rory McCann goes far and wide. He's the only character in the books and show that I really gave a damn about. CLEGANEBOWL. I'm sorry if you are sick of my dorkiness,

The Hobbit print is really pretty and I love The Neverending Story journal, The Harry Potter Deathly Hollows t-shirt is of nice quality, a little tight on me across the chest but I should've expected that.

Finally, a geeky keychain that is just one solid piece. How many nerdy fun keychains and I bought that just end up breaking apart. Game of Thrones, Firefly...

The film strip from Deathly Hallows is a nice collector's piece too. We still have to finish our rewatch of Harry Potter, we left off on The Goblet of Fire where things stop being fun and start getting real.

The final verdict is Lootcrate won Brian's heart and Nerd Block won mine. Both boxes had tremandous value, both had great fitting t-shirts with awesome designs, fun toys and suprising collector's items it's hard to compare just the one month subscription. I'm looking forward to next month's goodies Lootcrate's February theme has been announced and it's DEAD, so that's The Walking Dead and Deadpool franchises we can look forward to.

Are you a Lootcrate or Nerd Block subscriber? If so, let's be friends and geek out together.
