Despite the plethora of bloggers across the net these days, I feel there is a huge gap in real, authentic, affordable Corporate Style inspiration.  Almost every blogger out there is blogging about ‘what to wear to Coachella‘ or featuring a cute jumpsuit that, honestly I couldn’t wear in an corporate environment.  I’m excited to start this new column to feature affordable, classic corporate style that is wearable and stylish.

The majority of my corporate wardrobe contains a lot of black.  To be honest, it’s mostly black. Maybe it’s because I live in Melbourne, Australia, where black is the fashion staple. That and hipster beards for men.

Now that you’ve been warned, let’s get into the details.  This look pairs a simple black pair of ankle-length trousers from Banana Republic which have become an absolute wardrobe staple.  While we don’t have Banana Republic stores in Australia (yet!), I picked up several pairs (linked below) during my trip to Singapore earlier this year.  I paired these black pants with a blouse  and a statement jacket to complete the ensemble. The jacket I am wearing provides a bit of pizzazz to my day and adds a lovely touch of colour. The jacket is also versatile, and can be easily paired with a skirt, or even for a casual look with jeans and boots.  A pair of black pumps is an absolute wardrobe staple, and this pair get me through a day often spent on my feet, with little discomfort.
