Here she lingers

The Scent of you,
the sweet, sweet aroma,
that brings all of my feelings crashing back,
back to the forefront,
like a title wave,
all the love that I gave,
all the love that I thought you would treasure,
maybe even save.

At least that’s what I’d prayed,
here, here I am,
and there you are,
so many miles away.

your lingering presence,
your abundant, ways…
back in the good ole days.

what can I say?

but….

Your scent Lingers at the tips of my fingers,
the fingers I used in so many ways,
the many times we played,
the many times we loved just to love and
love even more anyways…..

those were the days.

Your taste still lingers on the tip of my tongue,
lapping up your love like a sponge,
there you use to lie,
now next to there is where I cry.

Our love defined by so many beautiful words,
how my heart took off,
how it flew like a flock of birds,
then I had you in my arms,
then I had you close to me,
on those cold and rainy nights,
when lightning struck,
how you held on so tight to me.

The scent of you lingers,
in this bed,
through my closet.
I can even feel a faint brush of your lips,
on my cheek,
and now I’ve lost it.
Completely.
