9 Management Lessons By Lord Ganesha for Working Professionals

Ganesha, the almighty Lord of prosperity and wisdom is one of my favorite gods. People worship him for being blessed with ever fortune and riches. He is considered as the sign of good luck and triumph whenever any important business step or management body is supposed to do manage things. Thus, before taking any vital step, related to prosperity, finance or management, Lord Ganesha is remembered for sure. He represents the epitome of authority and wisdom which makes him a management expert for the working professionals.

Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, we take a reason of thanking the god for all he has given us through his teachings. Let’s have a look at the precious lessons helpful for professionals in management department, taught by Lord of wisdom, Ganesha.

Precious Management Lessons by Lord Ganesha

  1. Sense of responsibility

Lost his head, got punishment from his father, still followed his responsibility

Ganesha teaches us that sense of responsibility is above all. Being a differently created child by Mata Parvati, he fell into a situation when he didn’t allow his father make an entry into his mother’s room. He even lost his head as a punishment following his responsibility. His determinations lead him to be the lord of Gods eventually.

From this episode a working professional can learn to have the sense of responsibility like him.

  1. Wisdom makes you win in extreme situations

Slowly and steadily won the race from his brother- Kartikeya

Ganesha is the lord of wisdom. He is also the most powerful god and slain many demons. But when it came to be quick and revolve around the earth, he used his intelligence instead of losing hope. As his big-bellied structure and slow- steady vehicle could not help him. But still, he won the race of revolving around the earth from his Kartikeya.

Everyone knows the story and hence proved that wisdom makes you win in extreme situations whether a common person or a working professional.

  1. Good listeners are always high-fliers

Listening more, helps better in analyzing and decision making

Ganesha’s big ears, also known by the name ‘Lambakarna’ always helped him to listen big. The gigantic ears also symbolize that the more you listen the better you understand the situation. This helps you better at analyzing and decision making as well. To seek a good solution, listening paves a path to a manager.

So be a good learner to manage situations well instead of good declaimers, taught by Ganpati.

  1. Power should be controlled for good

Controlled power sets a professional calm hearted and composed to handle situation better

Extreme power is a sign of destruction as it corrupts the holder. We all know that Ganesha is the strongest of all lords being elephant-headed. Still, he is always seen as the figure peace and harmony. Just like elephant’s conduct calm and composed, Ganesha taught that power should be controlled.

A manager needs to be like this only. Never use extreme power, rather handle every situation with a calm heart, like Ganesha.

  1. A selfless attribute necessary to support

Professionals must not hesitate to support anyone like our Ganpati

Selfless attribute is necessary to have as a manager. From Ganesha a manager can learn how to support selflessly whenever it takes to serve. Give whatever it takes. Lord Ganesha became ‘Ekdanta’- one-tusked for the sake of humanity as he was writing Mahabharata dictated by Sage Vyas. He didn’t even hesitate to do that.

If martyrdom will help an organisation attain something good, professionals must not hesitate to do that like our Ganpati. This will benefit in return, positively.

  1. Forecast the good-bad motives

Smelling opportunities help understand others so as to be alert

Just like the lord of knowledge, a manager need to have a forecasting nose to smell good and bad motives. Ganesha with his long trunk managed to understand other’s better, their opinions and preparations well.

A manager needs to the same. Smelling opportunities and get success is also a trait to be learned from Ganesha.

  1. Concentrate and be focused in life

With small eyes He suggests to be focused in life and judge situation

Gajanana has small eyes that signify how to concentrate and stay focused. Ganesha teaches to concentrate and stay focused in life, keep sharp eyes to judge any situation and control better.

This is the supreme quality of management to be attained by a working professional.

  1. Think out of the box

Immense knowledge is always helpful to move ahead

A working professional can learn the most important lesson from Ganesha and that’s think out of the box. The big head of Gajanana suggests to think big and out of the box. Immense knowledge is always helpful.

Just like him be big in thoughts and perceptions as well.

  1. Respect for everyone seeks you esteem

Imbibe mutual respect for people regardless of their position and status

Although Gajanana is the strongest lord, but he chose Mouse as his vehicle. Ganesha’s choosing the mouse as his vehicle, where other lords have some remarkable vehicles, outlines his humbleness.

These attributes helps every professional or in management to grow in the long run. To imbibe mutual respect for people regardless of their position and status in an organisation is the role & sole step to be the best at management.

If one could apply this trait in his/her life, then it would be the best thing to attain from Lord Ganesha.

We all believe in Ganesha and his teachings. This is why Ganesh Chaturthi as a festival is being celebrated by the whole country these days. This festival now spreads the message of unity in diversity. It is one of the few festivals where rich & poor, young & old, all traits of society join hands to celebrate wholeheartedly with no doubts whatsoever.

Every year, Ganesha fetches joy and cheerfulness into our families and society. He touches our lives and hearts with his goodness and teaches us his precious management lessons.
