Phenylethyl Alcohol in Nasal Product (Flonase)

Sometimes i get very surprised about how strong and accurate scent memories from childhood can be. I'm doing this year a course of perfumery here in Brazil which consists of 360 degree on the subject. And this week we had a class of methods of extraction and synthesis of scents, which was very interesting and full of details and blotters to sample.

One of them was Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol, which i always knew it was important for the rose aroma and never smelled before. So, at first i could easily see the rose link but there was something else for me. I had that feeling of this is familiar and, luckily, it didn't took me much time to remember. That smell was the same of a nasal spray i used when i was a child. I had sinusitis crisis that blocked my nose and made it very hard to breathe and sleep. One of the doctor gave me a nasal spray that helped a lot and had a nice aroma. I completly forgot about it until i smelled PEA in the blotter. I could even remember that the sinus spray had a green cap after i smelled PEA.

And then, to my surprise, i checked the formula of the product and - voila - it does have PEA! Does anyone know why you would have this in a nasal product?
