The Flames currently stretch across 3,000 acres having broken out at noon on Wednesday, with high winds a factor in their spread.
Residents in a small Arizona community have been forced to evacuate after a fierce wildfire broke out, with six others on standby.
Around eight hours later, the fire had spread across 3,000 acres, with huge plumes of smoke visible from miles away as the fire burned brush and ponderosa pine.
The fire was burning in the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation, 12 miles (19km) south of the city of Show Low.
People were asked to leave their homes in Forestdale, while pre-evacuation notices were issued for Show Low, Pinetop, Lakeside, Fort Apache, Hon-Dah and McNary.
High winds were said to be a factor in the fire's spread.
An air tanker has been dropping fire retardant in a bid to get the flames under control.
Temporary accommodation has also been set up, while the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
