DUI crash, fatality leads to charges

DUI crash, fatality leads to charges
A 35-year old Panorama City man was arrested and charged with DUI for his role in a five-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured two others.

Braulio Triana failed to yield at the intersection of Roscoe and Woodley in North Hills, and hit another vehicle broadside. The collision was so violent that three other vehicles that had been stopped at the intersection were also damaged. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was extricated from his vehicle, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were evaluated for minor injuries. Triana was arrested on suspicion of Drunk Driving and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Earlier this year, North Hills was the scene of another fatal DUI accident that killed a North Hills father and injured eight others. The driver in that crash was fleeing the scene of another accident she caused when she hit a minivan. Last year, a 19-year-old man was arrested for a North Hills Dui crash that caused the deaths of 3 people.

North Hills DUI Attorney

The State of California takes drunk driving seriously, and you should, too. Drunken driving can lead to a whole host of criminal, administrative and civil penalties that will adversely affect you for years. A fatal accident triggers the worst possible penalties under California law. In addition, the penalties become progressively worse for multiple drunk driving convictions. If you’ve been arrested for drunk driving, you need the assistance of an experienced DUI attorney like Robert Helfend.

When you’re arrested for drunk driving, you’ll be subjected immediately to an administrative suspension of your driving privileges. That suspension isn’t criminal, but criminal penalties can be added on top of an administrative suspension.

In addition to an immediate license suspension, you can be required to complete driver retraining, pay fines, submit to driving restrictions and have your car equipped with an ignition interlock device. Your insurance company can suspend or revoke your insurance policy. Criminal penalties can include incarceration in jail or in prison, the suspension of your driver’s license and fines. You can also be subject to civil penalties in the event of property damage or personal injury.

Mr. Helfend has defended thousands of Southern Californians in his more than 30 years of practice. He takes criminal cases exclusively and handles each case personally.
