NIFT SITUATION TEST
First of all congratulation to the candidates for clearing first phase of nift , now there is only one hurdle left which is situation test , in this post design academy will give you a clear idea of what is situation test , what is the duration of test, what a candidates have to do there, how they be marked and what are the major problems they face.
WEIGHT-AGE OF SITUATION TEST-
nift situation test carries 20% weight-age of overall exam, this 20% play a essential role in boosting up the rank of the candidates, loosing marks in this phase can result in lowering down of rank so a candidate have to work real hard to make their best in this phase.
DURATION OF TEST-
the total time provided for situation test is 2.5 hr in the duration candidates are asked to make a 3d model on a particular topic , candidates are also asked to explain their design concepts in about 100 words.
MATERIAL PROVIDED-
there is not a fix number of material provided in situation test ,the approximate number of material they provide is about 9-12 or more and they also ask to bring some materials ,they will provide the information of material a candidate have carry with them in admit cart . mostly they ask for couple of scissors, glue, scale, all pins,cutter,boll pen etc.
NIFT SITUATION TEST VENUE-
NIFT situation test happens at each of the 15 NIFT centers.
MARKING CRITERIA-
situation test checks candidates on various criteria like - smart use of material , aesthetic appeal, problem solving nature, time management ,explanation power, communication skill etc.
PROBLEMS & THEIR SOLUTION
time management-The biggest problem in nift situation test is time management ,since you have to make 3d model on given topic and present it with 100 words write-up. most candidate end up without write-up because of lack of time which results in decline of their ranks.
fictional design-one of the problem which result in deduction of marks is over fictional work ,some time candidate present there model which is not practical ,so always make such model which is practical.
less use of material- actually situation test is held to check your material handling sense this test give a complete idea to the judges that you have a potential to work with different materials and medium so why to use less materials, always try to use as much material as you can .
explanation(write-up) - most candidates get serious problem in write-ups . they explain there design but then also not get satisfactory marks. actually in write-ups you just not only have to explain your design you have to prove that how your design is special and different from others, how it is practical ,how you have used each and every material. so including these elements can help you in scoring well.
