Wait, Daniel Craig did WHAT?! The ‘Spectre’ star has reportedly quit the Bond franchise after turning down $99 million to star in two more Bond movies. Yes, $99 MILLION.
This is CRAZY! Daniel Craig, 48, reportedly walked away from a $99 million offer to star in two more movies as James Bond. The actor, who has been very open about not wanting to take on more Bond movies, reportedly told studio bosses that he’s “done” with the role forever.
Daniel turned down $99 million from MGM to return as James Bond for two more movies, Daily Mail reports. The offer included endorsements, profit shares and a co-producer credit for Daniel. The actor doesn’t care about the money, he just doesn’t want to do more Bond.
“Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre,” a source told the outlet. “They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted.”
“Huge” is an understatement. A $99 million offer is absolutely nuts. It appears the offer was a last-ditch effort to keep Daniel as Bond. “He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after Spectre if he was offered a money deal,” the source continued.
Daniel has starred in three Bond movies — Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre. He took over the role from Pierce Brosnan. In terms of a new Bond, Tom Hiddleston’s name has been tossed around to possibly replace Daniel.
Daniel notoriously turned heads after a 2015 interview was released where he said he would “rather slit my wrists” than star in another Bond movie. He later clarified that he would only star in another movie “for the money.” Well, it looks like $99 million wasn’t enough!
