Liverpool Owners Apologize to fans

After the announcement of new ticket prices, Liverpool fans were not happy. The new price of £77 left thousands of fans offended. Over the last few games, they have been protesting, putting up banners with messages like, “Football without fans is nothing.” The owners were called greedy for this drastic increase in prices. The protest was completely justified; fans were being charged for their loyalty.

At the last match against Sunderland on Saturday, a major reaction was shown by the fans. Thousands of fans left the stadium at the 77th minute. The message was certainly received by the other side. FSG released an open letter to all Liverpool fans, apologizing over the ticket pricing plan for the 2016/17 season. The letter said that the Club cherishes the strong relationship of the club and the fans and have decided to act.

After the protest, the owners have decided to keep the match day ticket to £59. Even the highest season-ticket price will also be frozen. And that is not it, the club has also decided to end game categorization. This means that fans will pay the same price for all matches despite who the opposing club is.

This is great news for the fans; it shows their strength and their ability to send a message to the authorities. After all, it is the fans that make a club; they are a part of the club not customers.
