Vishal Sikka Considers Automation as a Big Threat to the IT Industry

Like every time, this year also the annual meet of the World Economic Forum (WEF) has been conducted at Davos, Switzerland. It took place at a time of great turmoil in many industries. CEO of Infosys, Mr. Vishal Sikka, who has also attended the meeting said,

“The IT industry is also facing a Big Threat brought on by disruptive technologies like Automation and artificial intelligence”.

In India also, this same disruption are facing by other traditional IT companies. Yes, it’s true that automation has reduced the manual efforts and the mechanism has been replaced by machines. He added,

“Automation is taking out bigger and bigger bytes of work that was happening mechanically or manually like IT administration, infra management, business process operations like support and service desk kind of functions”.

He further stated, “

In the third quarter, Infosys was able “to save within the traditional delivery organisation about 1,100 people worth of work through automation. In BPO alone, not including these 1100, the savings were 650 peoples’ worth of work”. Margins of IT companies will not necessarily get impacted as automation raises productivity.”

Due to this, people think that there will be no jobs but it’s not true as we provide proper access to education and inspire them to be entrepreneurial and the innovative the future will belong to us.
