India Marks For 80% of Unemployable Engineering Graduates

New Delhi: A recent survey accounted for more than 80% of the Engineering Graduates as unemployed in the nation, focusing an immense requirement of upgrading education and training methods to be introduced as soon as possible in India. Apparently, there is a huge skill gap has been found in the country. Above 1,50,000 students were taken into consideration from over 650 engineering colleges who have graduated last year in India. A press release stated, “ The first large scale study on employability was done in 2011 but there has been no significant improvement in the last five years.”

Millions of young aspirants have done training from highly reputed educational institutions, yet they were not provided those skill sets and talents, which are needed for getting a job.

According to the Aspiring Minds CTO, Varun Aggarwal, “Engineering has become the de-facto graduate degree for a large chunk of students today. However, along with improving the education standards, it is quintessential that we evolve our undergraduate programmes to make them more job centric.”

Moreover, the reports said, Delhi is still in the race of yielding maximum number of Employable engineers with Bengaluru following the same. The graph highlighted Kerala and Odisha as the most employable states recently included in the top 25 percentile list. When the employability examined on the basis of gender, it turned out to be really well as an equal number of males and females are employable making a healthy movement.

Profiles like sales engineer non-IT, associate ITeS or BPO and content developer marked higher employability of females, added by the report. Furthermore, it suggested, engineers from tier III cities should not be omitted as they too can build a share from the recruitment perspective. “These candidates could also possibly fill the entry-level hiring needs of several IT services companies.” conveyed by the report.
