The affidavit is sworn by John Odhiambo who claims to have been part of negotiations as ODM National Chairman John Mbadi, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and Junet Mohammed planned on how to make money from NYS.
If the affidavit is to be believed, the drama around the NYS scandal is not yet over as this will serve to add a new twist.
He also lists Jimmy Wanjigi as a key ODM financier and a player in the NYS scandal. Wanjigi was once mentioned in the anglo-leasing scandal in Mwai Kibaki’s regime.

“On the morning of November,7 2014 I attended a meeting at the offices of Jimmy Wanjigi located at Kwacha house…in attendance were Jimmy Wanjigi, John Mbadi and his wife Catherine (Achieng), Junet Mohammed,Jakoyo Midiwo and a gentleman introduced as Ben Gethi,” reads the affidavit
Junet Mohammed was to represent the interest of ‘our man’ while Ben Gethi was to be Wanjigi’s point man but the affidavit does not delve deeper into the topic of discussion.

John Mbadi’s wife Catherine recently passed on after succumbing to cancer.
Ben Gethi has been widely mentioned in the NYS scandal and is a key suspect, according to police.
A follow up meeting was arranged at Caramel restaurant November 11, 2014 with the same attendees plus former devolution and Planning permanent secretary Peter Mangiti.

The whistle blower claims to have met and known John Mbadi since 1995 when they were in campus. He also played a key role in campaigning for the Suba MP in the run up to  2013 elections.
“In October 2014, John Mbadi informed me that some business opportunities were coming up in the NYS for the supply of different items…that the said opportunities had been organised and secured by Jimmy Wanjigi,” goes on the affidavit.
Junet Mohammed and Mbadi’s late wife were given the task of supplying sugar and cereals to the NYS.

Junet was to use his contacts within the Somali business community to illegally bring in the said goods from Somalia.
Jakoyo Midiwo was given the task of supplying unmentioned foodstuffs and other bulk orders.
The whistle blower’s role in the whole set up was to handle paperwork, consultancy and logistics alongside Peter Mangiti who would also facilitate in pre-qualification of companies in the deal.
He ends his affidavit by claiming that they made a lot of money from the NYS scandal but does not put a figure to it.
He also does not list the names of companies involved and their ownership despite the fact that he claims he was handling the paperwork.
The is the latest of affidavits around the NYS scandal with the last having been done by  Anne Waiguru who dragged in Aden Mohammed, Kipchumba Murkomen and Farouk Kibet-DP Ruto’s personal assistant.
