2.8 Hell To Pay: Prettier In Person
Valerie quickly wiped the tears from her face as she stood in front of her parent’s suite. She hated to cry in front of her parents because they always made such a big deal about everything. To them when Valerie was unhappy it was the end of the world. Although their devotion to her was sometimes embarrassing especially when you are in high school and you didn’t picked for school play and your mother has to let the entire school know that you were robbed. Valerie still appreciated their willingness to go to bat for her and she just hoped that when she became a parent that she would be as awesome as they were.
“I hope everyone is decent!” Valerie called out as she opened the door.
Her mother and Father started to laugh. “We were about to come looking for you.” Her dad said as he sat on the couch next to her mother flipping through the channels.
“Yeah I am starving.” Her mother said.
“I saw Dante’s cousin in the lobby think he works here or something.” Valerie said as she sat down next to her mother and placed the food on the coffee table. “I don’t think he saw me though.” She added as she began to take the food out of the bag.
“Are you sure?” her mother asked. “Because we can leave and go somewhere else.” She said.
“No, I’m not about to run from Dante anymore I’m scared of him.” Valerie said sternly. “I saw this really cute guy on the elevator.” She said looking out the corner of her eye to her father.
“Oh were you talking to me?” Her father asked confused when he saw her looking at him.
“Yeah.” Valerie grinned. “See I don’t need your help finding dates.” She said.
“So you two are going on a date?” he asked stunned.
“No not exactly he hinted at wanting to take me out but I was playing hard to get.” She replied.
“Uh huh is that so?” Her father asked with a smile. “See that’s exactly why have parents to force into doing things that you don’t want to do that turn out for the best.” He said.
“Yeah, yeah we will see this is the first date I let you set me up on so lets just see how it goes.” Valerie said as she took a bite of her food.
“They may have been my guy you seen on the elevator.” Her father said.
“Wait, what do you mean that might have been your guy?” Valerie asked stunned.
“Yeah honey, what do you mean?” Valerie’s mother asked.
“Well he is staying at this hotel too.” He replied.
“Are you serious?” Valerie asked.
“Yeah I figured if you said no to the date maybe fate would be on my side and two would run into each other.” Her father said nonchalantly.
“Dad does thing guy know what I look I like?” Valerie asked annoyed.
“I may have showed him a picture or two.” He replied.
“Dad!” she exclaimed.
